Driverless Metro in Delhi: Get Ready for new Experience Delhiites

October 27, 2019
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has developed the technology to run driverless metro on the Pink and Magenta lines of Phase III. Metro trains have also been bought for this, but despite the long running on both corridors, the drivers are still operating the metro. Now DMRC has targeted to run the metro in driverless mode on both corridors till May next year.

A fresh appointment of consultant is underway to implement this scheme. These will provide technical assistance in running the driverless metro. Simultaneously the operation will be reviewed by inspecting the Operation Central Control (OCC), Signal System, OHE (Over Head Equipment), Metro Train, Depot etc.
During this period, experts will see how technically efficient both corridors are for driverless metro operations. According to DMRC, for the first time a Singapore based company was appointed as an advisor. After studying the company, prepared detailed report that has been given to DMRC. DMRC is now stepping up to make consultant to a company that will help to operate driverless metro.

DMRC is moving towards automated metro operations in a phased manner. Currently, GOA (Grade of Automation)-2 is being used on both these corridors. Under this, the metro runs automatically, but there are drivers in the metro, who open and close the doors, apply brakes and control the metro in emergency case.

It is expected that by May 2020, GOA-3 technology will be implemented on both corridors, due to this, the metro will automatically speed up on both corridors. However, even in the phase of GOA-3, there are staff in the metro who control the metro in the emergency case if needed.

Shan-E Bhopal Express will be Upgraded to Utkrisht Rake, Under 'Project Utkrisht' of Indian Railways

October 02, 2019
Shan-E Bhopal Express will be upgraded to Utkrisht by replacing old conventional ICF coaches in 15 days. The Shaan-E Bhopal Express is the prestigious, one of the "first" ISO 9002 certified train of India, having high security features and high priority on the Indian Railways. Railway board has considered the train to be ideal by giving good passenger amenities. It was to get German designed (Linke Hofmann Busch) LHB coaches with modern facilities. These coaches have a screw free structure, making them more likely to be safe during accidents. In place of such coaches, 12 year old coaches in the train are being levied by colorisation. These coaches will be upgraded by 15 October. After that, the train will get Utkrisht status.
Shan-E Bhopal Express already has better passenger facilities, due to this, there will be not much difference in the facilities after getting Utkrisht Coaches. Many of the good facilities are already exist in LHB coaches, which are more beneficial for the passengers than the facilities for which Railways are referring to the expansion by installing Utkrisht coaches. The Railway Board has considered Bhopal Express as a model in the category of express and mail trains for good passenger facilities in all the division.

In view of this achievement, Ashwani Lohani, former chairman of the Railway Board, said that two years ago, it was said the train would given LHB Coaches. So that passengers can get more facilities. Even after this, the officials of Railway Jabalpur Zone did not pay attention to this train and in April 2019, LHB coaches was given to Jabalpur - Amravati Superfast Express.

Coaches do not get turned over or flip on each other case of a collision when an accident occurs, because they have anti telescopic system and center buffer coupling and do not derail easily. They are relatively quieter as each coach produces a maximum noise level of 60 decibels while conventional coaches can produce 100 decibels.

Old coaches are made Utkrisht by repairing. That means they are not new, In two years conditions of coaches will be poor. The coach will look more dirty because it is light blue right now, due to this the dust and dirt look at the low. Color will be light yellow and red after converted in to Utkrisht. The dust and stains are more on this color.
