After 44 Years Train will Roar on Mountains with Powerful Diesel Engine

November 29, 2019
Now the old engines will not breathe hard on the mountains. Train will run with new engine on after 44 years on Pathankot - Jogindernagar Narrow Gauge Rail Section, will give breathtaking view of Himachal Valley. The new engine made at Parel Workshop in Mumbai has arrived at Pathankot. The new powerful diesel engine arrived this week. Earlier, Pathankot got a new engine in the year 1976.

Engine number 715 ZDM-3 is also important for safety. The current four engine cabins are forward facing. Which takes a lot of time in loco reversal. Also, the track was not visible clear due to 6 - 7 meters of bonnet in front of the driver. The new engine has cabins on both in front and rear. It does not need reversal. It can be connect on the both side of the train. There is no bonnet in front of the new engine.  The driver can see clearly at a distance of five meters.
The age of the engine running on narrow gauge is assumed to be 36 years. Currently three of the locomotives are running, that have completed age, while the fourth will
complete by February 2020. There are 14 trains a day between Pathankot to Joginder Nagar. 12 engines are needed for this. If an engine gets gasped on the way, a loco has to be sent to bring it. Due to this, the operation of trains will be affected. The rail section still needs seven more new locomotives.

Kulbhushan Kumar, ADME (Assistant Divisional Mechanical Engineer), Pathankot Railway, says that a new engine with dual cabins has been arrived at Pathankot. It will be run on narrow gauge track and this will make the journey easier and comfortable.

Extension: Vananchal Express will run Bi-weekly from Saharsa, via Bhagalpur

November 13, 2019
Preparations for a major change in the desination of Ranchi - Bhagalpur Vananchal Express and Ranchi - Bhagalpur Express. It is planned to run Vananchal Express from Saharsa 2 days in week. Even after extending to Saharsa, this train will be not snatched from Bhagalpur, but will continue to Saharsa via Bhagalpur. Along with this, options are also being sought to extend
Ranchi - Bhagalpur Express up to Sahibganj running 3 days in week. According to railway departmental sources, the proposal related to both trains has been sent by the Eastern Railway to the Railway Board.  However, its time table has not been decided yet.  It will also be finalized soon.
Railways had earlier planned to run Ranchi - Bhagalpur Express from Saharsa. A possible time table for this was also released. The train running between Ranchi to Bhagalpur, after reaching Bhagalpur, stands unnecessarily for more than 13 hours. This keeps track blocks and also affects the operation of other trains.  In such a situation, it was decided that this train should be run via Jamalpur - Munger - Khagaria route to Saharsa instead of Bhagalpur.
The extension up to Saharsa, an important train would have been snatched from Bhagalpur, but now the railway has modified this plan. The Ranchi - Bhagalpur Express will now run from Ranchi to Sahibganj via Bhagalpur. Vananchal Express will be run via Bhagalpur up to Saharsa. In the return also, it will run from Saharsa to Ranchi via Bhagalpur.
