Semi High Speed Train will Equipped with European Technology, Automatic Braking System will be Installed

European Train Control System Level-2 has been approved for running operating train's at 160 kmph between Howrah to New Delhi, work on it will start soon.

There is a big challenge for Railways to operate semi high speed trains safely. If high speed trains collide with each other, there will be a huge loss of life and rail property. In view of this, Railways have
decided to adopt European technology.

From this technology, trains can be controlled centrally. The updated status of the signal will be seen in the cabin of the Loco Pilot. It's biggest advantage will be that the system is equipped with automatic train safety. If for some reason the loco pilot fails to stop the train, then train will undergo automatic braking. This will help prevent incidents like face-to-face collision of trains.
Trains will run safely even in dense fog,
with the help of European Train Control System Level-2, the signal barriers coming to loco pilot in train operation during dense fog will be removed. Trains can run safely even during dense fog. In the fog season, train accidents often occur because loco pilot is unable to get the signal right and he crosses the signal. Due to accurate information of the signal, it will be unlikely.

For new Installations Modern Electronic Interlocking is being provided. This will enable safe operation in low man power. Electronic interlocking is microprocessor based and also suited for centralized traffic control. This will also help during future changes in railway yards.
