No Long Distance Trains from Saharsa Junction before 2022: GM East Central Railway

East Central Railway General Manager Lalit Chandra Trivedi inspected Saharsa Junction. Senior Railway officials including DRM Ashok Maheshwari of Samastipur were present along with GM, first he inaugurated the Oxygen Green Park between platform number 2 & 3 and then inaugurated the newly built lift on platform number 1 & 2 and dedicated to the passengers.

Later Inspected the railway running room, followed by the ticket booking counter near platform number 5. In view of the changes made by the Railways at Saharsa Junction, the General Manager awarded certificate of excellence to ACM Narendra Kumar, DCI Rajesh Ranjan and other departments officials. He said that Railways are continuously increasing passenger facilities on Saharsa Jn. Regarding Vaishali Express standing on platform number 1, he said that it is the most premium train of board and its maintenance should be done in the same way as it was done at Barauni Pit Line. Looking at the vacant land in the circulating area, he said that it should be used for parking or park should be constructed.
The GM said that Kosi Region has a high population and many there is high demand to run an Overnight train from Patna for Saharsa. He said that it will be considered. Along with this, a proposal has been sent to run more trains from Supaul, it is expected that the number of trains will increased after rail line work to Saraigarh will be completed. GM said that the number of trains passing through Allahabad Division is high due to which train operations are affected, it is not possible to operate new trains. The construction of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) will be completed by 2022.

There will be dedicated rail line only for freight trains. After the completion of Dedicated Freight Corridor, long distance trains can be introduced run from other stations including Saharsa Junction. The GM said that some railway infrastructure works are underway in Kiul - Luckeesarai Section, after which the speed of trains will increase to 130 kmph on Mokama - Patna Kiul Section. After which the trains originating from Saharsa will be able to cover the distance of Patna in 4 hours.
